Access Points

Aerohive’s 802.11n enterprise wireless LAN access points, HiveAPs, are an innovative class of wireless infrastructure equipment with cooperative control technology that provides the benefits of a controller-based wireless LAN solution, without requiring a controller or an overlay network

Software & Management

Aerohive’s HiveOS is the operating system that powers the Aerohive access points, while HiveManager is the management system for configuration and monitoring. Together, with Aerohive access points, these comprise a complete controller-less, Wi-Fi solution.

HiveOS

This is the operating system that resides on Aerohive access points and is the foundation of Aerohive’s unique Cooperative Control architecture, which enables HiveAPs to work together without a controller.

Cooperative Control is a distributed computational system, much like Internet routing, that provides robust wireless LAN functionality without a controller. Powered by HiveOS, Aerohive networks are highly resilient WLANs that have no single point of failure, and can route around any issues with access points or the network itself, in real time.

HiveManager

This single, out-of-band management system handles configuration, OS updates, and monitoring of up to thousands of Aerohive access points.

HiveManager also offers real-time topology, performance, and client information to simplify troubleshooting, capacity planning, and security remediation.

Since it is not essential to the flow of traffic, losing connectivity to HiveManager will not affect any control or data forwarding features of your Aerohive WLAN. There is no pre-staging or configuration necessary to connect HiveAPs in any location to their HiveManager, which makes it ideal for distributed deployments.

Aerohive Apps

Aerohive apps add features, functionality and value to the complete Aerohive Wi-Fi solution.

These powerful applications can help school districts monitor and track wireless clients as well as allow all enterprises to provide sophisticated and secure guest access.

• StudentManager
  - A powerful monitoring and reporting system for school districts that use Aerohive HiveAPs for wireless access.
• TeacherView
  - Simple-to-use web interface that provides classroom status to a teacher at login, without requiring the teacher to pre-configure any parameters.
• GuestManager
  - Enables any authorized employee (e.g. lobby ambassador) to create an account via an intuitive Web interface, ensuring that guests can get the access they need while the network remains secure.

Cloud-enabled Services

Aerohive's cloud-enabled service, HiveManager Online, is a cloud-based enterprise management solution that provides all the features and functionality of a behind-the-firewall network management system without the installation, operation, and maintenance associated with a dedicated management server, and at dramatically lower cost.

Designed to make it cost effective to start small and grow a network with no upfront capital costs beyond the access point, HiveManager Online comes in two versions – Express and Enterprise.
